Luckily, I was reading for a close friend who I knew I could just be candid with. I'm guessing you'd just use a little more tact with a stranger. Very interesting story though, thanks for sharing! (Found your site through Tarot Eon, great stuff!)

Comment on The Yamas Of Tarot Reading

awesome article.... Yes, we do need to stay aware at all times of our ethics in our work. That can apply to any job! Too often we are encouraged to be selfish, ruthless or sneaky in order to "get ahead"- we see this on television, in the news, etc. Bullies are revered, while common courtesies are seen a sign of weakness. Imagine if every workplace could be respectful, kind and honest. What a difference that would make...

Blessings!
Theresa

Comment on The Yamas Of Tarot Reading

I like the use of the yoga priniples as applied to tarot, I think you did a good job of illustrating the application of the ethics. To look at most philosphies or religions or professional ethics for that matter, we can find many common threads and ideals. I, for example, having been trained as a counselor tend to folloow the ethics of my profession: confidentiality, client self-determination, cultural awareness etc. These principles are quite similar to the Yamas in your post. I beleive it is vitally important for any practitioner to remain keenly self aware of how well we are (or aren't) adhering to them. This act involves what is probaly the most vital ethic-keep our egos in check!
Thanks for this very important guidance!
Peace,
Jen

Comment on The Yamas Of Tarot Reading

Hi Catherine!

Thanks for stopping by and for your comment. I am such a huge believer in yoga and meditation - I love to teach both because I feel that everyone can benefit from these practices.

I also believe that all tarot readers can benefit from a yoga practice because I know from my personal experience how it has helped me. I am more centered and better able to access my inner voice with a regular yoga and meditation practice. This improves my readings.

I recommend starting with a good studio. If you can find one in your neck of the woods, check it out. I have a feeling you'd be pleasantly surprised at how great you feel and how your intuition flows!

Blessings!
Theresa

Comment on The Yamas Of Tarot Reading

Hi Theresa,

Fabulous post yet again! I'm so glad you wrote about Tarot and Yoga :) As you know, I've never practiced Yoga but seeing how you've related its principles to Tarot reading, and of course your continued promotion of it, I think I'm going to have to dip my toes in some Yoga waters....

Where do I begin?

Warm wishes

Catherine
