Hi Evelyn!

I always like to hear other perspectives - and thank you for sharing yours. I know plenty of people who agree with you and others who feel differently. I love the diverse opinions. It always makes me think. :)

Blessings!

Hi Suzi!

Thanks for dropping by! Professionalism, honesty, compassion and respect should be the cornerstones for ALL businesses - not just tarot reading. I'd sure like to see that practiced in every field.

Blessings!

Good discussion here! I never look at a third party's cards, as I consider that a bit like breaking confidences, or the Hippocratic Oath! Instead, I might offer to take a card to help my client relate to that third person in a given situation. I find this is usually very helpful.

Love the post Theresa! I am right with ya on much of the list - and as you mentioned, we just need to be smart as well as professional as to how we relay the information. Honesty is the best policy for some of those less-favorite questions LOL.

Hi Koneta

I go with my gut too. If it feels really "hinky" I am honest with the client and see if there is a way I can answer them while still respecting my own feelings. I never like to ignore the instinct.

I don't have too many rules except - no criminal stuff; no sports predictions (I loathe sports and don't even know a thing about them); no lottery numbers (not a gambler here - and you'd think I'd have those numbers and be living the high life, right? LOL I will allow a client to ask about their luck though should they be going gambling.)

Blessings!

Hi Melissa

I agree with you on that. I rarely have anyone ask that question without some sort of snarky attitude. I also had a client who was terminal and she spent her entire time asking about everyone in her family. She wanted to make sure they would be okay after she was gone. Some readers may see that as spying but I saw that as a way to feel peaceful before her transition. It was one of the most powerful readings I have ever done. I still think about her.

Blessings!

Personally, I don't have any hard fast rules that you could put onto paper and pass out. Of course I have boundaries, but for the most part I listen to that inner voice of wisdom at the time for guidance. If I feel the question is questionable, I will attempt to try a different tack to get at the heart, without dismissing the question or the client out of hand. If I still get a "red-flag" I will explain my reluctance to pursue that particular question.

It is a fine line walking that advice tight rope, and I (we) must be ever vigilant in keeping it in an ethical balance.

Thanks for this post. Its a good question for all readers to ponder and know how they will handle these "sticky" situations.

In almost all cases, I won't answer, "When will I die.". Most of the time, it's asked flippantly, and I get a big red STOP sign. The only time I've answered it was when a client was terminally ill and wanted to make arrangements with her husband. I got the feeling that it was ok, and it gave her such relief.
